Hello everyone.   I live near Greenwich, London. I used to sell unusual bric-a-brac in the market there, but now have a new hobby - exploring Greater London and beyond using the Underground system. Along the way I've discovered loads of historical, quirky and beautiful places - all within wallking distance of a Tube station. You can even get to glorious countryside and find fascinating medieval buildings you wouldn't dream could be reached from the centre of London by Tube train.Luckily I am old enough to qualify for a Freedom Pass otherwise it would be rather expensive!    My main interests are architecture and photography - and digging out the sort of weird things that make the UK such a wonderful place to live.

Hi Diana welcome to the great family of POE.  Sounds as though you are having lots of fun and I've noticed you have already submitted some super photos of Richmond, so look forward to seeing lots more in the future.  I love quirky photos, lol.

Do join in the forums whenever you are able, you will find we're a very friendly, caring group of people.

Hi Urmimala and JuJu - thanks for the greetings. Believe it or not we are actually hoping for rain in London as gardens are looking so parched!

Hi Diana:  Welcome to POE.  I'm so jealous, that sounds like a wonderful thing to do.  Yes, it's amazing how much you discover, once you start looking, even things that you may have passed daily for years.  I hope you enjoy it here.

I just looked at your website.  Thank you for starting it.  It is a great resource for those of us who will only get to experience London as tourists.  It will be of great use to anybody who wants to stray off the beaten tourist path.
