Hello! I'm Liz, from Tiptree in Essex. I think I'm going to have wonky eyes over the next few days, scrolling through the amazing photos on here. I feel quite privileged to join you all. I'm sure I'm going to learn a lot here, as well as meeting some people with a common interest.

I've always loved taking photographs but have never really given it the time it deserves before. Over the last couple of months, though, I've been bitten by the bug! Now I'm taking my camera with me wherever I go and am planning an upgrade soon - Jessops vouchers for Christmas!

A bit about me - I'm a professional horse trainer specialising in problem behaviour using gentle methods. I have 3 rescue ponies and 3 rescue dogs (oh, and a husband, but he's not a rescue). My other love is nature. Since moving to Essex, I've become smitten by the watery landscapes of the mudflats, salt marshes and river estuaries. I'm hoping to spend some time there when the autumn migration starts. Camera in hand!

Thanks, all. It looks like it'll take a little time to have a read and catch up. I'm sure I'll be back with some questions and more photos later.

This is an amazing site, by the way. Thanks to all concerned for running it.
