I've just joined this lovely site, donated £15 and now I can't upload an avatar pic OR any of my photos! Does Anyone know how to make the jpegs on my MacBook Pro smaller? I'm afraid I don't understand the "must be 200x200 pixels" thing but it's happened to me befoe so my photos must be too many megabytes or something!! Cheers!

Hi

I'm new here too, having the same avatar trouble even though the picture is the correct size.

On your MacBook Pro open the photo using Preview. Select "Tools" on the Menu Bar, scroll down to "Adjust size" Un-tick the "Scale Proportionly" Option. Then type in 200 in the Width and Height Boxes. Make Sure the Pixels option is showing then click OK. Hit the Red exit button and you will be asked if you want to save the picture at that size. Thats it. Still can't get mine to upload though, it seems to be OK but then I just get a blank web page dispalyed.

Edited to add - Your photo needs to be in your pictures folder to open in Preview not in iPhoto. If you need anymore help give me a shout and I'll be happy to help.

Hi Mrs Nickleby and welcome to POE from Anna and Ron. I can tell you that the avatar problem that has dogged POE for quite a while now, will be sorted within the next 48 hours, and thank you so much for the donation to help keep POE running.

Ruth seems to have answered the macbook question (well done Ruth for helping out there). I have just approved pictures so yipppeee! lol

Well that answers my Avatar problem, I'd tried on Safari about 20 times so I switched to Firefox with the same results. I'll keep trying, generally things sort themselves out eventially.

Edited to add - look it's appeared Laughing

And a very warm welcome from me 'Mrsnickleby' hope you enjoy your stay with us. You will find a great crowd here so join in the forums where you willl be more than welcome. Have to agree with Cath you'll have to give us an easier name to call you.

As to the avatars Ruth you seem to have landed at just the right time. There has been a problem with them for a few months but all seems sorted now. Thanks to Chris and Sarah, I can now get back to recognising myself again  Tongue out

Well it looks as if the fix was quicker than 48 hours. We shall see what other members say, and whether or not they can now upload their avatar.
