My name is David Swann and I would like to thank all those who have added ratings and comments to my photographs recently.

Like others I came across this site quite accidentally, but was impressed by what I saw.

Originally from South Yorkshire, I have lived most of my life in Lancashire.

I am well past bus pass age but have enjoyed taking photographs since my early teens, starting with a small plastic Kodak camera and gradually working my way up to Canon cameras.

I was a member of a local photographic society for a few years during which time I used a spare room for developing and printiing B&W images.

I was a reluctant convert to digital but acquired a Canon EOS 400D and a version of Photoshop Elements 5 about five years ago, and was surprised by the ease and flexibility compared to film processing.

I decided to become a Premium Member on joining because it seemed quite a small price to pay for access to the site; I would have thought a larger proportion of members would have supported the site financially.

You seem to have a few members who are prolific with their submissions; I can never hope to match this, but intend to offer a few images as regularly as I can.

I have discovered PoE quite late, but I wish you all the best, and hope more people will feel able to support you.

Your introduction tells a familiar story of 'digital conversion' over the years.

I know POE owners Chris and Sarah will very much appreciate your comment about members contributions, or lack of! Thank you, maybe it will 'nudge' a few more into digging a bit deeper, after all it's probably less than they give their kids in a few days or so.
