Thanks everyone, I chose well when I clicked on this site. Your comments have been very helpful and thanks very much Dave for steering me in the direction of the lake district. Your pictures are impressive and beautiful. I think I've changed my mind from Liverpool to Buttermere.

Hi Suzette, Buttermere is a beautiful area but if you want to stay somewhere for a couple of days Ambleside or Keswick are much more central and both lovely places with plenty of shops, pubs and restaurants.

If you visited the village of Studland near Swanage, Dorset, Enid Blyton often visited there and the village was the basis for her Toy Town in her Noddy stories.
