Underbelly
"Nice shot Vince. Also did some sterling work in the Falklands War. Rumour going round at the moment that they 'might' have found some engines to replace these so that it can go on for a few more years. If not it stops flying next year some time!!!" - Dave John(7th September 2014)

"Just another thought on this one Ruth. Not sure how many modes your camera has, but PORTRAIT mode would have been good for this, as the camera would generally set a wider aperture setting. Also the exposure is a bit out I think, this feller is in shadow and the camera has exposed for the overall scene and taken the much brighter background into its calculation thereby leaving the gull a stop or so underexposed. But it is something else to play with innit? " - Dave John(7th September 2014)

"Definitely English John!! Never had a passport, don't want one" - Dave John(7th September 2014)

"Nice job Ruth, To be honest you probably wouldn't see much difference between auto and manual setting to f8 'cos looking at the weather the camera would probably have chosen closer to f8 that f3.4 If you take the same shot setting both manually you will see a difference. f8 will show much of the image in sharper focus than f3.4 Manual setting at 33.4 if great for things like close flower blooms etc ... even this little feller too. " - Dave John(7th September 2014)

Bluebells in Skelgyll Wood
" Superb bluebell shot Dave, good colour and I like the light on the flowers." - Vince Hawthorn(7th September 2014)

" The main difference should be depth of field and general crispness of the shot , at the lower setting may have a chance of less sharpness around the edges. Good shot of this gull but I do wonder how many folk will have him to deal with when they have a portion of fish and chips they are trying to eat. Oh thanks for the comment on my sunrise shot, so far I have to loose some sky and Dave wants me to loose the sprig of nettles down the left hand side." - Vince Hawthorn(7th September 2014)
