About Me

My husband and I visited the UK in 2017 stayed 9 weeks and wished we could have stayed longer for me having last visited there as a teenager in 1956 and attended school at Inchbaine between Edzell and Brechin some things had remained the same others were very different. Having worked on the Railways in Australia and travelled by train most of my childhood I think its the only way to travel around a country to talk and learn about others. Most of my pictures are still in my camera and show reclining ancestors and plaques in churches. With family tree research I use my maiden name of Heather Douglas to avoid confusion My paternal grandmothers family came from the Aberdeen Angus area and islands around Scotland. Rea, Brodie, Stewart, Macdonald her husband Kenmer Douglas his family were border Raiders from Wigton and Bolton near Carlisle.
My mother's fathers, Hobbs missionaries from Kent and London and her mothers family also were connected to Yorkshire and the Border. My husbands family lived within a 40-mile radius of London and Warwickshire and we also seem to have relatives in common. I found this site while researching a family name connected to the village and coincidences seem to be my strongest point thought Why not join if you don't ask you will never know. All the best for the future and tourism when it happens, meanwhile keepsafe.
