ABOVE IS THE ALTER IN THE CHURCH OF" ST. MARY THE VIRGIN" IN THE VILLAGE OF CHARLTON, MACKRELL IN SOMERSET, ENGLAND. HENRY ADAMS & EDITH SQUIRE WERE MARRIED HERE ON OCTOBER 19,1609. HENRY BORN 1583 WAS THE FOURTH CHILD AND SECOND SON OF JOHN ADAMS & AGNES STONE WHO WERE MARRIED IN 1576. Beth is the 11 generation descendant of Henry Adams. My children will be 12 Generation. EDITH'S FATHER WAS HENRY SQUIRE AND HER GRANDFATHER WAS REVEREND WILLIAM SQUIRE & WIFE ALICE (SCARLETT) SQUIRE. EDITH (SQUIRE) ADAMS HAD TWO SISTER ONE ANN (SQUIRE) PURCHASE MARRIED TO AQUILA PURCHASE & ANOTHER SISTER MARGARET (SQUIRE) SHEPARD MARRIED TO JOHN SHEPARD. SHE BECAME THE ANCESTRESS OF PRESIDENT WILLIAM HOWARD TAFT,(1909-1913) DURING THE REIGN OF ELIZABETH THEIR GRANDFATHER WILLIAM SQUIRE DIED IN OFFICE AS A PRIEST IN 1567 IN CHARLTON, MACKRELL. HENRY WITH HIS WIFE & EIGHT SONS MADE THE VOYAGE TO NORTH AMERICA IN 1638 ON THE "MARY & JOHN" 400 TONS, OUT OF PLYMOUTH WITH 140 SOULS.THE VOYAGE TOOK 70 DAYS. HENRY WAS 55 WHEN HE TOOK THE VOYAGE. HOW FORTUNATE THAT WILLIAM SQUIRE WAS NOT BURNED AT THE STAKE THOSE LONG & MANY YEARS AGO.

St Mary the Virgin Church

The second President of the United States John Adams was Henry & Edith Adams Great Great Grandson.. This Church is "St Mary the Virgin" in the village of Charlton, Mackerel, Somerset,England. John Adams was to become the first Vice President(1789-1797) under Washington and the second President(1797-1801)HE WAS ALSO THE FOUNDER OF THE AMERICAN NAVY. He also was a signer of the "Declaration of Independence"July 4,1776. He helped negotiate the peace with England in 1779. There is also a plaque on the North wall that says Matthew Gannett sailed with Henry Adams to the New World and helped found Bridgewater.
