A picture of Shrewsbury Old House, St Julian Friars, Shrewsbury, Shropshire. This old house is reputed to have once been a part of the Friary located in this part of the town, as you can see it's what estate agents might call 'an unusual house of character'! A picture of Shrewsbury Floods at Shrewsbury (Shropshire). Normally the West Midlands showground isn't a very attractive sight, however, flood water and a sunset do a lot for the view. I had this photo developed in New Zealand, and it caused a sensation in the Backpackers! Everyone wanted to know where I'd been! This picture appears in the following picture tours: |
A picture of Shrewsbury Floods at Shrewsbury (Shropshire) This is the floodwater backing up the old route of the River Severn; before the ice age it seems the Severn flowed north of the town, afterwards it formed a loop around the town. If there are floods then the old route makes itself strongly felt again, with water extending well to the north of the town. This picture appears in the following picture tours: |

A picture of Shrewsbury Floods at Shrewsbury (Shropshire) - The Severn floods most years; this is a view to one of the car parks, I don't think the takings were very good today! This picture appears in the following picture tour: |
A picture of Shrewsbury St Chad's, Shrewsbury (Shropshire) Tower seen from the graveyard. St. Chads is a very striking building, partly because it is so different from the 'typical' English church. This picture appears in the following picture tours: |
A picture of Shrewsbury St Chad's church, Shrewsbury, seen from 'The Quarry'. St Chad's is a Georgian church, built after the collapse of the original St Chads on a site in the town centre. Unusually, the church is circular (it would make a great skating rink!), it wasn't really what was intended, but it was one of the Architect's initial designs, and he managed to bounce the committee into accepting it when he threatened to charge more to create drawings for the preferred design!
