Tipton Saint John – Rusty instrument From Tipton St John the path by the side of the River Otter extends northwards to Ottery St. Mary. Along this riverside walk is this old agricultural instrument. Some spokes have rusted away in places. It was made by W. N. Nicholson & Sons Ltd., of Newark. I know not for what it was used. Tipton Saint John In a field at Tipton Saint John I saw a calf whipping its tail and mother chewing her cud. There is no finer sight at the quiet of an evening than a field of Red Ruby Devons peacefully grazing early summer pastures.
