Stannington The village spread out on the nearest of the three skylines is Stannington, where I grew up in the 40s to 60s. The Rivelin pub on Tofts Lane sits just left of centre and is a pub liked a lot. The rocky outcrop just above the pub has a cliff shaped like a face and is called "The Old Man of Stannington". Tofts Lane A narrow lane that runs parallel with A6101 Rivelin Valley Road and connects Stannington with the road west to Glossop and Manchester.
