Stannington

The village spread out on the nearest of the three skylines is Stannington, where I grew up in the 40s to 60s. The Rivelin pub on Tofts Lane sits just left of centre and is a pub liked a lot. The rocky outcrop just above the pub has a cliff shaped like a face and is called "The Old Man of Stannington". Many happy memories just looking at the details in the old photograph.

Tofts Lane

A narrow lane that runs parallel with A6101 Rivelin Valley Road and connects Stannington with the road west to Glossop and Manchester. The fields are walled with Yorkshire grit dry stone walls.
