About Me

Originally from Welington, Shropshire, I moved to Cleveland some 26 or so years ago, and love the little villages and fishing towns up here. There is so much of beauty in the world, and here has more than perhaps it's fair share.

I am semi-retired, well, early retirement through Ill-health, and use much of my time in capturing the beauty of the area as I see it. I have about 3000-odd pix already, and have not lost interest yet, but seek to get even better shots next time, so I feel confident that things will go well. I used to work in several Photographic sales shops, in the Midlands and in Barking, near Dagenham, and helped a wedding photographer while at school. My uncle, a dentist, had expensive cameras, Rollei etc., and I wanted to have one too. I was so impressed by his fantastically detailed pictures, but it took me many years before I could get a Carl Zeiss decent lens, and then it was second-hand. but I now use it on my digital camera to capture lovely scenic detail, though admittedly in a smaller format.

I am fascinated how to get quality images without spending a fortune, and it seems to me the way to go is to take multiple shots accross a scene, and combine them in Photoshop. So, I may take 20 pix of a scene, and the let the program sort them out. As long as they overlap, and you have not moved sideways or anything daft, it does an excellent job of presenting one picture of a quality equal to medium format lenses, and if enough shots are taken, then equal to 5x4 inch film. That is my best tip so far, and it took me years and l lot of wasted money to find that out - free to you though
