Mapledurham Lock is not accessible to the public from Mapledurham Village. Anyone wishing to visit the lock must access it via Purley on the opposite bank of the Thames.

The railed-off south aisle seen in the right hand side of the picture is a rare example of a Roman Catholic aisle within a Church of England church. This aisle is not used for public worship and the only access is via a door in the south wall of the church.
