Whitby whalebones The famous jaw bones of a whale were donated by Alaska in April 2003. The original whale bone arch was erected around 1853 and is now displayed in the Whitby Archives & Heritage Centre. A local native 1 This chap (or chapess!) has almost reached aduthood judging by the few brown feathers left around the head and neck. Was quite persistant squawking away as if asking for a share of our fish & chips.......didn't get any though!! Towards the town Looking from the pier towards the town. The wooden pier is closed off at present because they think the little bridge from the concrete pier to the wooden one is unsafe.....hope they get it sorted soon, it's a nice stroll to the end looking down at the sea between the boards under your feet!
