About Me

Hello, my name is Anita and I co-own the infamous Royalty-themed tea room in Stanhope, County Durham with my friend, Christine Dodd. We both work full-time - Christine in the Fire Brigade where she has been employed over 38 years and me as the editor of the local community newspaper, the Weardale Gazette.
We opened the tea room not as a business but as an event to celebrate HM The Queen's Diamond Jubilee. It was the idea of my two daughters who thought I should use my Guinness World Record-breaking collection of Royal memorabilia instead of it being boxed in the loft!
You may have read or watched about the three ladies who were 'kicked out' of the tea room for not standing for the National Anthem - well it wasn't quite like that but hey the publicity has been wonderful.
The tea room is only open until August 31st but because of its popularity, we are to re-opne again next year but in a different venue in a different town - still in the area known as Weardale though!
