The Engine House- Trelissick The gates to the Engine House are open, but go inside and close the gates and shut out the troubles of the world. The Engine House is now a National Trust holiday cottage, but originally housed the water pumps connecting from the Water Tower and Trelissick House. Looking forward to staying there again. Trelissick Garden, Quiet Corner. This is not Ian Anderson but a small alcove of a garden full of peace and quiet. This picture appears in the following picture tour: Camera Make: Panasonic Model: DMC-FZ38 |
The Celtic Cross. Tucked away in the gardens at Trelissick is an old celtic cross and above it the look out hut which is dedicated to one of the gardeners of Trelissick. This picture appears in the following picture tour: Camera Make: Canon Model: Canon EOS 550D |
A Tropical Corner. This corner of Trelissick Gardens has a very tropical feel to it. Cornwall has many areas of micro climates where many plants from overseas can survive. In past days in the time of exploration plant hunters would bring examples from all over the world to the mild corners of Cornwall. Flowers in four face. As one walks around the ground of Trelissick Gardens there are many flowers and plants in great profusion and this display took my eye. This picture appears in the following picture tour: Camera Make: Panasonic Model: DMC-TZ25 |
Trelissick bird on a branch. This is just a straight shot from the garden in the gardens where we stayed trying to capture a few bird shots. The oriental effect is purely by chance, but I am not complaining. This picture appears in the following picture tour: Camera Make: Panasonic Model: DMC-TZ25 |
The Secret Garden One day this well may be a doorway to a secret garden, the foliage will spread and the doorway could well be covered and forgotten. This picture appears in the following picture tour: Camera Make: Canon Model: Canon EOS 550D |
The Tree in the Park It's that tree again from a previous shot this time looking back into the area that is Trelissick Park. In the background you can see a part of Trelissick House. It is not open to the public normally and now the contents will be sold by auction on 23/24 July. The Copeland family are moving and the ceramic collection valued at 1to1.5 million pounds is being sold off. Mussel Farm This is the landing stage if you want to arrive at Trelissick Gardens by ferry/tour boat and what you can see beyond is a Mussel Farm. This picture appears in the following picture tour: Camera Make: Panasonic Model: DMC-FZ38 |
Time for a dry Taken from the Enterprise tour boat as we passed the Mussel Farm near Trelissick Garden, this cormorant obligingly stretched his wings for a dry. This picture appears in the following picture tours: Camera Make: Panasonic Model: DMC-FZ38 |
Upatreedown. Taken on the South Walk of Trelissick Garden and Park, the tide is out exposing the seaweed and you can just see the water at the top of the picture. The water is Carrick Roads, the world's third largest natural harbour. This picture has been on the counter at work as one of my "Pictures of the Week" and a lot of customers have been struggling to make out what they were seeing. A view from a window Just a little shot showing the view from the sitting room of the Engine House cottage where we stayed. This picture appears in the following picture tour: Camera Make: Canon Model: Canon EOS 550D |
Carrick Roads Taken from Trelissick Park this shot looks out over Carrick Roads. Carrick Roads is the name of the large area of water of the Fal Estuary. The huge sheltered waters here make it the world's third largest natural harbour. The park is open to the public and many walkers, dog walkers and the local herd of cows share this wonderful place together. Transportation portals The gate here is at the base of the Water Tower taken from the road outside. At least the task of posting the postcards was very quick and easy! This picture appears in the following picture tour: Camera Make: Panasonic Model: DMC-TZ25 |
The Water Tower For a more normal image of the Water Tower check out POE pic no 1141520. This one however shows the the side of the tower that houses the stairs, just over 50 of them. The top floor where virtually in the roof is the kitchen/dining area (I imagine the views are stupendous). The floor below is the sitting room and the lower floor is the bedroom. If you need the loo/bathroom it is down the stairs, out the main door and into the the adjacent bathroom door. Fortunately this door arrangement is suitably hidden behind a hedge (which has this year show signs of being got at by the weather or an over eager pair of shears). Wot you doin' in my garden ? Our holiday cottage in Cornwall was a National Trust cottage at Trelissick Garden. It was the old Engine House which shared a garden with the Water Tower both enclosed in their own garden within the gardens. The Water Tower was what it says on the tin and the Engine House housed the pumps to the Water Tower. The garden is a haven for all the birds there (even the blackbird who sat on the chimney pot and his song was magnified coming from the fireplace!) and I am sure the robin here looked at us thinking " What are you doing in my Garden"? A picture to remember This is the shot that I have got in the National Trust Holiday Cottage brochure. It is what it says on the tin, they were looking for shots to show off their cottages and people enjoying themselves. All the same it is good to get one of your shots in print. Little acorns, you can always hope! This picture appears in the following picture tours: Camera Make: Panasonic Model: DMC-FZ38 2 people have added this picture to their favourites |
