To The Sun Growing on a balcony next door to the shop I work at, these sunflowers were basking in sunshine and just asking to be photographed. But pointing the camera upwards and at the very limited angle I had it was difficult to not get cluttered up with guard rails , fencing and roof lines I have still had to crop to present the pic above. The Wild Meadow Is this shot a pic of part of a wild flower meadow or a edge of a bit of farmland? Well no, it is a small narrow strip of raised earth between the drives of a couple of houses on my walk to work in a residential road,( in fact the road leading from Great Bookham village centre up to Polsden Lacey. It just cried out to be snapped. This picture appears in the following picture tours: Camera Make: Panasonic Model: DMC-TZ25 2 people have added this picture to their favourites |
Ethereal St. Nicolas A recent misty morning enabled me to see a new look to the church, St. Nicolas at Great Bookham. Another example of "always carry a camera with you " This picture appears in the following picture tours: Camera Make: Panasonic Model: DMC-TZ25 |
One Man and His Dog Just could not resist this, having got off of my bike to have some lunch this chap arrived with his dog and it was time for him to have a smoke and enjoy the view- so why can't a dog enjoy the view so a quick jump up and make like his master ( but no fag !! ). Isle of Wight Pond That's right, this is called " Isle of Wight Pond "- one of a series of ponds on Bookham Common. The Common is a haven for wildlife ( including a frog I had just photographed- he was on his way towards the pond and the signs that had been put up would suggest it could be for a liason ). There are also plenty of folk walking and cycling , in fact I often pass customers as I go. This picture appears in the following picture tours: Camera Make: Panasonic Model: DMC-FZ38 |
Blossom Time in Bookham Here is an alternative view to Great Bookham Church at a time when the flora was doing what it does best. This picture appears in the following picture tours: Camera Make: Panasonic Model: DMC-FZ38 |
Great Bookham Church on a Rare Sunny Day Just to bring a ray of sunshine to you all, spring IS coming and the water will go away. The path leads to the entrance which now is always closed and the way in these days is through a new entrance at the end of the church under the tower. Dry Cleaning Machine not Dry Cleaning Friday 14/02/14 and one problem sorted and two more come to light. This is part of the dry cleaning machine minus the front panels, this part looks well tidy compared to all the pipework, still, condenser, button trap and so on found at the back. Anyway spare part ordered and will go on next week. This picture appears in the following picture tour: Camera Make: Panasonic Model: DMC-TZ25 |
Candle Light Carol Service As I left work today in the half light one could see Bookham Church lit up by candles for a carol service, at least the huge patch of flooding that always happens by the church had gone away by this time. Did I just Come Through A Wardrobe ? Just a stretch on my way home but it does seem to remind one of a land covered in snow and full of magical tales all in the blink of an eye. Soggy Squareabout Just to give the I-Spyers a a fresh outlook with the church of St. Nicolas in the background. This picture appears in the following picture tour: Camera Make: Panasonic Model: DMC-TZ25 |
The Day Begins An early morning shot at the squareabout at the village centre of Great Bookham. The idea is that NO_ONE has priority at the squareabout ( not even give way to traffic from the right ) . The idea is that with such a situation everyone stops and only goes forward if safe to do so - seems to work though. A sign of the times I thought I had better have a go at village sign pictures seeing as they (whoever they are) have put up a village sign here in Great Bookham. Thing that bugs me is the sign is celebrating the Queen's Jubilee 2012 BUT the sign went up last week! I have a feeling it is not a coincidence that the Tour of Britain Cycle Race went past the day after it was erected. GoldenEye This fellow was hanging around the ceiling so a quick jump on the stool and wave the camera at arms length and got the shot. This pic has been on the counter this week as one of this weeks picture of the week (the other one was the VOR- already on POE) and quite a few people have passed comments and not all good. It is a pond, honest! On the edge of Bookham Common this little pond has grown much more algae since I was here last. Shot was taken when the temperatures were nearly at the highest. This picture appears in the following picture tour: Camera Make: Panasonic Model: DMC-FZ38 |
One for the family album. On one of the Bookham Common ponds this family have found a safe home on an island. There has been much work on the Common and it's ponds over the last year or two, hopefully for the better. This picture appears in the following picture tour: Camera Make: Panasonic Model: DMC-FZ38 |
Faerieland Not a very good quality shot but put up just to show the sheer numbers of dragon/damselflies hovering over this corner of a pond on Bookham Common. Each bit of blue is one of the huge numbers of these ethereal creatures darting about on this occasion. This picture appears in the following picture tour: Camera Make: Panasonic Model: DMC-FZ38 |
A rather nice place to live. Seen on a bike ride. A very quaint place to live, but a very English home. This picture appears in the following picture tours: Camera Make: Panasonic Model: DMC-FZ38 1 person has added this picture to their favourites |
Another of those flying machines. Here is a static dragon/damsel fly, a bit easier to capture than when in flight. I tried to get a shot or two of the beasties in flight but no shots worthy, just a whole lot of deletions. This picture appears in the following picture tour: Camera Make: Panasonic Model: DMC-FZ38 |
