Houghton is a beautifully restored water mill from the 17th century. It can be found in the delightful village of Houghton, overlooking the waters of the River Ouse. One of its famous millers was Potto Brown.
Enjoyable guided tours are offered by experienced guides who are a mine of information on the history of milling. There are miniature millstones to be turned by hand, and an on-site book shop.
Milling takes place on Sunday's and Bank Holiday Monday's.
Houghton is one of the loveliest villages in Cambridgeshire, visitors wishing to stay to fully discover the region will find plenty of accommodation including a nearby caravan park.
