Bin Diggin' in the Dirt !

A bit of company for the blackbird Ruth photographed and posted recently. This one is in the garden of the Engine House where we stayed and it seems the lawn is a good source of grub. The very first time we stayed there there were a pair with a new brood nesting in one of the shrubs at the front door of the Engine House - good job the door everyone uses is the second door further along and so they were not disturbed. We used to see the mum running around the lawn before grabbing a beak full and dashing back to the nest, this one did visit quite a lot this year but we had no idea where the nest was this year.

Great shot Vince, it seems to be less breezy where you to took this, no ruffled feathers. They do like a bit of dried fruit to supplement whatever they find on the lawn :)
