Hi Charles!  You've been with POE for 5 years and this is the first time you have come on to the forums so a warm welcome to you.

Can you tell us anything about the Glapwell Carnival?  Or was this the first time it was being held?

I am sure you know that many POE members have taken out Premier Memberships in order to ensure that POE can continue to survive through the heavy expenditure required in running and hosting websites.  Would you consider becoming a Premier Member too?  Details abou the Premier Membership will be found by clicking on the large blue square in the top left hand corner of the screen.  Hope to see you with a star soon!Smile

I'm writing this in the notes of my iPod touch and am going to see if I can copy and paste it to the forum.. As you're reading this it must have worked :-)

Glapwell carnival hasn't been held for 20 years or so, and today was the big comeback. We had a walk up about 2pm and my heart sank as we saw the empty field. I'm sure a lot of people will have given up their time and worked hard to try and make it a success.
I can only blame the weather. I think it would have been great if it were sunny and warm.
We all know we can't rely on the weather in this country.. Chin up and soldier on :-D

Next year I'm sure it'll be fantastic 8-)

Jesus! You lot are like piranas ha ha! I only joined a few years ago because i thought you would like some of my pictures (for free). How much money do you need? What if I send you some money and you go bust anyway? I'm not being funny or owt but surely you need to make people want to contribute rather than pestering them.

That is true Charles.

I presumed that you have been enjoying POE over the years and would like it to continue.  But perhaps you have been unable to enjoy the site to its fullest so would need time to judge its worth.  I see that you haven't added many pics yet so maybe that is something you would like to do more and perhaps join in on the threads/forums and enjoy the company of other members.

We really are a very nice bunch of people when you get to know us!! Smile

The pictures have to be hosted Charles and over the years the costs have risen dramatically because members love what they have here at POE.

And yes they all give for free, but if POE goes bust without members donating, then I suppose they can look back and say perhaps I should have sent something. On the other hand if POE goes bust after you have donated, your money will have been spent trying to keep the site running to the last minute, and none of us know when that might be.

It's not unusual for websites to ask for help, least of all the very best website and forum on the net bar none.

Owners Chris and Sarah have funded the site personally for the last 10 years and I don't think it is too much to ask. So, on behalf of the membership, who do care about POE (please read the forums) will you also help by making a donation please?

I think in retrospect you will agree that we have not pestered, but we have been 'to the point' as we are with all members in this family friendly website and forum.

Thank you in anticipation Charles

I deleted the two posts that you duplicated Charles. It happens when you hit the 'refresh' as opposed to the 'Latest Posts' on the left of the page (5th link down from the green banner).

Anyway, no problem.

Getting back to Glapwell Carnival Charles, had POE known that it was happening it would have given it a special mention on the front page under 'Events' where forthcoming events are advertised for the members. If POE survives, maybe next year eh?
