About Great Dunmow

Great Dunmow in Essex is a pretty market town, also known as a 'Flitch' town, due to the unique flitch trials that are held there every four years during a leap year.
The name 'Dunmow' means 'Meadow on the hill' and the town has history dating back to a Roman settlement that once existed there. It also has many medieval buildings throughout the town, many of them still in use today as shops and businesses, and there is a wonderful 16th century town hall.
Great Dunmow can be found 6 miles east of London Stansted Airport, close to the M11 motorway.
