My name is David Reid. My middle name is William and I was known as "Billy" when I resided at St Judes when the convent was a children's home. I lived in the Village from 1959 to 1964. Despite the circumstances of being in the home, I found in retrospect that this was one of the happiest times in my youth and proved to be a great foundation for my educational experience and life long personal development.

I now reside in Palm Springs California and have achieved a good life and a happy family. I will never forget Nympsfield a "holy Place" in reference to its original Celtic name. I would like to reach out to anyone from this period who can share personal memories with me. I am writing a book about lost hope and spiritual awakening.

Thank you

Hi David, a very warm welcome to the family on POE.  What an incredibly moving story you tell and one that is so different to what is normally heard.  I do hope there are POE members that will be able to help you in your quest and I wish you the very best of luck in writing your book.  I think it is one that I would be very interested to read.

Hi David! Welcome to POE. I am so happy for you that things turned out so well and that you had a pleasant experience at St. Judes. All too often children come out of places like that with negative experiences. I am so glad you got past it and now have a wonderful family of your own.

Reminds me of another young man who had a very rough upbringing. His name is Dave Pelzer. He has written three books on his experiences. After reading what he went through and the torture he was subjected to I am surprised he turned out so well. I am glad he did. He is a man of great determination.
