About Wye

Beautiful little town delightfully set on the famed North Downs Way a short distance from the historic seaport of Hythe. Amongst the town's interesting features is a hillside on which you can see a chalk crown commemorating the coronation of Edward VII in 1902. Much of the showpiece architecture centres around 15th-century Wye College which was founded in 1432 and remained largely unaltered until 4 more Quadrangles were added between 1901 - 1914. The town shows a joyous collection of fine Georgian houses and impressive buildings from Victorian times.

Surrounded by open countryside where you can find lovely water-meadows, wildfowl parks, ancient windmills and a nearby museum showing farming implement from the 14th-century, Wye makes an interesting base from which to enjoy the delights of the fabulous Kent Coast and Romney Marsh.

Tourist attractions include: Port Lympne, Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Railway and Canterbury Cathedral.
