Granary house near cowdray house ruins, midhurst

Granary house next to Cowdray manor house. The mushroom shaped stones are Staddle stones, they were originally used for supporting bases for granaries, hayricks and game larders. They lifted the building above the ground, protecting the stores from vermin and water. they are now more commonly used as garden ornaments.
