It rained, which is always nice here in Nevada, but it didn't rain hard and fast which is what causes the flash flood. Ruth, the rain rushes down the side of the mountain, down the streets to get to the river. Sadly we live crossways to one of the down streets, and our driveway is just a little low lying (the other neighbours don't have this problem) so the water just flows right on over. It could have been worse, as only the garage and it's contents got wet, the house is fine. The pathway is muddy and full of neighbourhood debris, but we can handle that. |

I was out doing some volunteer work, when we got word, that their was funnel clouds in the area. We had to move inside, rather quickly, and bring everything in with us. So we had to fold up a 100 chairs, disconnect the sound equipment, fold up tents, tables and stack all the plastic chairs and move them inside. It was raining so hard, that their was a flood that set up off the fire alarm. I took pictures of the storm developing: http://i204.photobucket.com/albums/bb52/jwebmaster/tooney_tuesday_day3/HPIM2098.jpg

That sky looked really nasty, and it got much darker, really fast. I didn't get a chance to get anymore pictures. 5 minutes after I took, the first picture, the sky looked like the third picture. It was a very terrifying experience, we don't usually get tornadoes or floods here. |
