Most the time it's not needed. while we had three days of 100's here in Portland, Oregon, it's been 106 and 108 all around us. As you know I'm an kind of recovering heart patient. I saw my cardilogist's last Friday, but my feet are so swelled right now, my ankles look like "knots" of bone, and my feet are puffy, I have Lasik to take but it's not keeping them down, the lighteing came last night but so far no rain, though doppler radar says it's raining where I am right now...get that one. It beats me why the streets aren't wet here....I havent' a clue. We broke this morning the highest temperature ever recorded for an morning low, the day before that hottest temperature since 1961 and the day before that the hottest temperature since 1986. I've been up "nights" doing things I cant' do days, like wash towels and linens trying to keep up wiht the changes going on around here. I'm tired, my feet are puffy and I just feel "out of it" right now Supposedly we have rain coming in and down into the 70's temperatres, but in the mean time it toasted to an crisp an 30 year old 6 foot orange azeala in my yard, burnt all the new growth this year on my bright red rhodendron that's likewise 30 years old, I hope they make it next year. They are simply at this age and size irreplacable. |

So typical of high desert weather. At lease it's gettting cooler at night, which makes it a real pleasure to sleep. Can't remember the last time we saw rain, I think it was in July some time. |
