It's a beautiful 57.0 ˚ F right now. I have all the windows open and a lovely cool breeze is filtering through the house.

Sunny and in the 70's right now, forecast high around 90°.  Last night I went to dinner with my friend Pat and as I pulled into the restaurant at 6, a huge wall of dust was bearing down on the city.  I didn't see the storm for being in the restaurant, but when I got home, I had a couple of branches from my back yard trees on the ground.

My big concern today is for my sibs who live in the Houston suburbs, where Hurricane Ike is expected to make landfall tonight.

Ruth!!   I'll be thinking and praying for your family tonight!

It's been gorgeous here in Oregon/USA..but I spend most the night up doing "lightwork" on  Hurricane "Ike" in Texas...I think of them as an piece of paper in my hand an wad it up until it shrinks in size. Laughs* This one was an stubborn one because of it's size, which would of stretched across the whole West Coast if it were in the Pacific ocean...600 miles wide. I watched a few limbs on the oak trees out front turn in two days from green to light yellow, it's coming, fall/winter and good thing..because we have an new year coming in about 3 1/2 months. I took the time for the cooler weather to make Pear Butter yesterday and baked two apple pies and two loaves of zuchinni bread, (kept two others)and sent them home with the babysitter. I can't be alone with the grandkids you know until they are old enough to call for emergency services without an doubt by themselves. So I have the daughter in-law's nephew here three days mid week with me..babysits two of those days.  Gives me an chance to do other things. We took our two huge dogs up to an park last Sunday near Mt. Hood to walk along an river, they liked that one. We needed the extra nice day sto make up for the cooler weathe rthis summer, but I look forward to the rain at times also, for isn't every kind fo weather an blessings sometimes?...yes..it is.

It was a perfect day here today.  I spoke to my 3 brothers and my sister who all live in Texas.  They all came thru is just fine, although the beautiful tree-lined streets they live on have quie a few less trees now.  My sister said the worst part of the storm hit them about 4 AM, and she said you can't imagine how scary it is sitting in the house and listening to all that going on outside.  The winds in their town were 90 MPH for 4 hours straight.  When I spoke to them this morning, the were still getting 40-50 MPH gusts.  I tried to call all of them this evening, but wasn't able to connect to anybody.  By now they probably have to call from their cars, since there isn't any power in the houses to charge their cell phones.

Thanks, Wolf.  My people are safe, thank God.  But it's gonna be a while before they know the extent of the damage there.  And the storm will continue to dump on the US as it moves norh and east.  This is one ugly storm.
