I'm popping in to check on Barbara! The mid section of the US have been terrorized by tornadoes in the last week or so and I think Barbara's area in VA was hit by them too!!

Barbara check in!!!

Brenda....I grew up in the Delaware Water Gap!! Are you close to that area??

Hi, Krissy. Yes, I sure am. Not too far from the Gap at all. I go right through there if I'm going to New York or New Jersey. Speaking of the weather, we're under a tornado watch in this area this morning, but it's north of where I am. We're getting the residual effects, though.

I will. You too. I live right by the Susquehanna River which is above flood stage already, 25 feet. Thank goodness they repaired the dikes after the big flood in '72. Now we have flood gates that they put up when this happens. There's also a creek at the end of my street that tends to flood and they've put some gates up there, too. Nice talking to a Jersey girl.

Hi, James. Glad you're having a sunny day. I'm trying to think of the rain we're having as a way to keep the daisies I planted watered:)

Fair wind today, light rain, sunshine this evening and temperature about 17c. Cloud cover overnight will at least stop the frost!

With all the pomp and circumstance going on today with the royal wedding, spare a thought for the 300+ people who died this week in tornadoes, over 200 of them in Alabama in one night.  There are entire neighborhoods completely wiped off the map.  One tornado was on the ground for 217 miles.

In Arizona today, it's sunny and breezy, and they expect it to get breezier - red flag warnings for the whole state today.  Unfortunately those winds track east and hit the warm moist air masses coming up from the Gulf of Mexico, so the midwest could be in for more of the same.

Hi Brenda.  I'm originally from Scranton.  I helped with the clean-up in Wilkes-Barre after Hurricane Agnes in 1972.  My friend Claire lived in the town and her dad was a music professor at Kings College.  So you name the instrument, they had it.  When they found out they were to be evacuated they moved everything upstairs, except the piano of course.  They ended up with 5 feet of water in the second floor.  The waterline on the house was 17 feet and the house was under water for about 3 days.  It was horrible.

Windy here in Wheatley, Oxford today but cannot begin to understand the power and destruction of the tornadoes in and around Alabama.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to all those affected.
