Many thanks for your contribution. |

It's the park of the magnificent Hatfield House, childhood home of Queen Elizabeth I. The park has wonderful ancient trees such as i have not seen before, and i can recommend visiting it. One can choose between buying a ticket for visits of both house and park, or the park alone if so wished. Here you can read more about it: http://www.hatfield-house.co.uk/HGP.asp?S=14&V=1&P=26 And this, is an image i took in September this year of the " Elephant Tree" Also found in this park is the spot where Queen Elizabeth I is said to have been, underan oak tree when she heard of her succession. The old tree is now gone but replaced by a new oak placed by Queen Elizabeth II.

It is a beautiful area and worth visiting if you are nearby. (How is it possible to post images in these threads such as those posted by the Pirate Duchess?) |

Thats an amazing shot of the so-called elephant tree and not hard to see why it is so named. Nice shot Martin, have you got any more tree's with oodles of history like that? |

I haven't taken a picture of it for 30 years, so I hope Dexter doesn't mind if I use this beautiful shot taken some years ago. Picture by Dexter This brings back plenty of memories! |
