Famous Beauty Spots in England
Please add any famous beauty spots to the site that you know of, by making a post below. We will then add them to the database of Famous Beauty Spots.

When adding a beauty spot, please be as detailed as you can when describing its location, such as which county it is in and near to which town, village etc. Ordnance Survey grid references are a big help too but not necessary.

Many thanks for your contribution.

I would gladly be the first to add a spot i enjoyed very much.

It's the park of the magnificent Hatfield House, childhood home of Queen Elizabeth I.

The park has wonderful ancient trees such as i have not seen before, and i can recommend visiting it.

One can choose between buying a ticket for visits of both house and park, or the park alone if so wished.

Here you can read more about it:

And this, is an image i took in September this year of the " Elephant Tree"

Also found in this park is the spot where Queen Elizabeth I is said to have been, underan oak tree when she heard of her succession.

The old tree is now gone but replaced by a new oak placed by Queen Elizabeth II.

The St Ives Estate at Bingley in Yorkshire,

The estate which includes a mansion (now a nursing home) an 18 hole golf course, riding school and stables, a lake, plus large areas of woddland and moorland was donated to the people of Bingley by its owners the Ferrand family back in the 1800's.

It is a beautiful area and worth visiting if you are nearby.

(How is it possible to post images in these threads such as those posted by the Pirate Duchess?)

Hey ole timer (2005), welcome to the site! Thats an amazing shot of the so-called elephant tree and not hard to see why it is so named. Nice shot Martin, have you got any more tree's with oodles of history like that?

Pirate Princess...that is a fabulous photo of a great and ancient tree....how strange to think that it was here long before us and will still be blooming year by year long after we are history.Kiss

Chesil beach, Dorset is one of my favourite beauty spots in England. I haven't taken a picture of it for 30 years, so I hope Dexter doesn't mind if I use this beautiful shot taken some years ago.

This brings back plenty of memories!
