We are adding new categories and will be spending any spare time we have looking for new accommodation to list. Therefore if you know of any properties, such as a favourite little B&B hidden away in the corner of the lake district for example, or a favourite hotel or holiday cottage somewhere, please let us know by posting it here and we will add it to the site ASAP. Many thanks, Chris and Sarah

The Leauses in Cirencester. http://www.theleauses.co.uk/aboutus.htm. Mason & Elizabeth are wonderful and really go out of their way to make their clients feel at home. 1. The Swan Hotel in Alresford.http://www.swanhotelalresford.com/. Staying in the old part of the hotel is always very interesting. (if you like old hotels). I, personally, love the old places. Very clean, nice people. Hope this helps........Cheri |

Unfortunately though, it seems The Leauses has been sold and no longer trades as a Guest House. Thanks again, Chris and Sarah |

It is an idyllic little cottage for two (three in a pinch), not far from London or Oxford. One warning--anyone over 5' 9" tall should watch out for the sitting room center beam (I speak from painful experience here)! http://www.thatchedholidaycottage.co.uk/ Picture by Rob Faleer
The Cottage in Gold Street, Saffron Walden, Essex. The cottage is larger than it looks in the website photos. Sleeps 4 in two bedrooms up a VERY steep stairway. Great bathroom. On a quiet street just a couple hundred yards from a Waitrose supermarket,a great bakery, the market square and a great Turkish restaurant called The Olive Garden. The owners, also lovely people, live in the pink section of the house. http://www.mcrigby.co.uk/ (click on the brochure link) Picture by Rob Faleer Edited by: Rob Faleer at:14th August 2010 17:20 |

Please let me know if you have any objections. Thanks again |

I am not sure if NT cottages are on POE, I could not see them. NT cottages are all over the UK and always of a high standard and in wonderful positions. The NT cottages would be another very good string to the bow for POE, I don't know how they would respond but worth a thought. Vince. |

Chris and Sarah: Feel free to use my photo. Vince mentioned the National Trust cottages: http://www.nationaltrustcottages.co.uk/. There are also the cottages of the Vivat Trust, which seems to have two websites, the second of which shows better photos of the properties: http://vivat-trust.org.web15.anaxanet.com/vivat-trust.aspx And there are the cottages of the Landmark Trust, an organization that is renovating near-ruinous derelict properties and renting them to perpetually maintain them. http://www.landmarktrust.org.uk/ One of the Somerset Landmark Trust properties, Stogursey Castle, was held by my direct ancestors, the Verney family (my descent from this family is directly through the Palmers of Parham and Angmering in West Sussex to whom Stogursey passed by a marriage between the Verneys and Palmers). I plan to stay there on my next research visit to the UK! Edited by: Rob Faleer at:14th August 2010 23:59 |

Thank you both for the info. It's really appreciated Chris & Sarah |

Is it for recommended places only and I mistakenly THOUGHT for example that if a person wanted to stay in a particular place you need places for that town or village etc. I looked at Lowestoft but there was nowhere listed for the town itself although there are many places listed in the telephone directory, also what about Pubs which often do Band B. Please Chris and Sarah can you explain it to me, sorry to be so dense. |

Accommodation doesn't have to be in just the recommended towns, it can be anywhere in England. At the moment it helps if the establishment has a website which we can get information from such as prices, rating and contact details etc. We will be listing pubs that offer B&B too, so please feel free to list any that you know of and we'll add them asap. Sorry again about the delay, Chris & Sarah |
