I tend to go to the small fishing villages. Usualy Looe, Mevagissey and all those beautifull coastal villages in Cornwall. I tend to like the quiet life these days.

Hi Peter,

Yes Mevagissey, and especially Looe, are two of my favourites. I enjoy wandering over Dartmoor too.

I think it has to be lynmouth//Lynton or any of that stretch along the north Devon coast, mind you i love Seaton and Beer too, and watermouth bay, bude...... and then there's Wales!! but i suppose that should be for another website really. Whitby sounds nice, not been there but heard lots about it, i should really pay it a visit.Smile

Hi Jason,

I have never been to Lynmouth or Lynton I am ashamed to admit. there are so many lovely places, you could spend all day discussing them couldn't you?

Your right Ray, so many places to choose from, we're spoilt for choice in England really, I must admit i prefer quieter resorts though, rarther than kiss me quick hats, rock and arcades!! but each to their own. There's something special about a trip to the seaside, maybe its because i live in the midlands, so it's a fair drive to any beach! Smile

Yes, same here, it is at least 80 miles to the nearest coast I think.

I'd opt for any seaside town or village that has managed to retain it's charm and character over the years, and for the scenery that surrounds them. Several mentioned above, though Jason's North Devon choices are high on my current list.

My really favourite places are Porthcurno, Marizion, Newgale and Salcombe but I don't think they really pass as seaside resorts!

I go to Cornwall every year on my own for a break. Due to ill health, I cant walk far, but I can walk for miles down there. I walked accross bodmin moor, and over the becky falls.
