Peter, this may interest you, there's a programme on BBC4 on sunday evenings 7.00 - 7.30pm called Coal House. Its about 3 families being transported back in time from the 21st century to 1927 Wales, they live and work as they did in those days, working down the mines and living in miners cottages, very interesting! I can see how my grandparents had to survive and bring up children in those surroundings now, instead of using my imagination.

Does anyone remember the farmers collecting hay ricks (not bales, before then ) with pitch forks, and throwimg them up onto a cart drawn by a draught horse ?
