Now this is the kind of contest I would love to go and watch.  Right up my street this is.

I hope I can get this link to work, as it's a super picture.

What kind of local and not so local events do you like to attend?

We also have tractor plouging ( plowing) contests here in West Berkshire too. Also in September is Newbury Show, a major agricultrual show with assorted other exhibitions as well.  On the showground just north of Newbury, I've seen shows there for Land Rover owners, and never seen so many Land Rovers of all shapes and sizes in my life!

What I missed yesterday was the Cunard liner QE 2 sailing from her home port of Southampton for the last time, en-route to New York, and thence to her new home in Dubai.

I wonder if anyone here managed to get a picture or two. As a Portsmouth lad, the QE2 was a sight I never tired of.

I don't know about the QE2 Andy, but i will be putting in some old photos I have here of the Queen Mary when they've been scanned onto my computer,  my uncle used to be the Customs Officer on it. What an elegant liner she was. We  used to have when we were kids, a couple of wall lamps over our beds that used to be on there. If only I knew what had happened to them they could be worth a fortune now!

I gleaned this from BBC News. It's a great night shot of the QE2.
