Hi Michael:  I've only spent 10 days out of my entire life in England, and 7 of them were in N. Yorkshire.  I think the north of England is superb, at least what I've seen.  When we decided to vacation in England, we didn't know where we wanted to visit, but we wanted the trip to be kind of leisurely, and not try to pack too much in.  It was surfing this site that made us choose N. England and we were not disappointed.
