The milestone day will be a week tomorrow. Hopefully itll pass quietly and life will go on, I’ve got lots of interests and I’m hoping to put time into finishing my autobiography to give to my young grandchildren living out in Canada . I also want to photograph some of the special places and areas of interest in my native Lancashire, hopefully put some of the more interesting results on poe. In 1968, when I was in my late teens a young lady from South Wales named Mary Hopkin appeard on the television talent completion Opportunity Knocks and blew everyone away. She was noted by the fashion model ‘Twiggy’ who, knowing Paul McCartney refered Mary to him and a star was born. She only stayed in the limelight for about two years before moving on with her life. Her most famouse song ‘Those were the days’ was a big hit, it was 5 minutes long and the words make me recall her record today. I would like my friends on poe to share these words with me as I celebrate reaching this wonderful age, (Many sadly, have not). If anyone wishes to share these words (and indeed the memories of that era) they can see and listen to Mary on you tube by linking this thread. Maybe you can give us some "tips" on how to get through it?. I see things changing so much around here, everytime I can find an old picture book of the area, I buy it. Just for the memories of what it use to be like.. Last year they took out an dam and drained it that was so well known as an "fishing" lake, plowed the ground and planted trees and you'd never know it ever was an recreation/park site before...I have no idea what they did to the day area and picnic tables. Make the best of things while you can do it. Take picures of the flowers before they become an slab of asphalt, and roll in the green grass before its considered you may be in your second childhood, and remember as one guy said about old age...that's the beauty of being able to tell the truth like it really is...because your either ignored completely, tolerated because you supposedly have most the money these days, or are considered an little "off" mentally....laughs*...... At any rate.. Enjoy it! |
