Where I live, genrally cars are completely on the road; sometimes making it impossible for large vehicles to pass cars either side, so fire truck and ambulances are out of luck on some of our roads. You might have overlooked blind people too, Ron. |

A car parked right across the path, the road teaming with cars. I pushed my son between car and bushes, branches hitting him and me int he face, car getting scratched down the side. So the answer is NO. Cars do not park on the path. |

Stupid!! But I can see why it would be a problem than I guess you are putting ppl in the streets. But i also see the congestion because some roads over there you can barley go down when there are 2 cars parked on each side of the road we saw a lot of side mirrows knocked off,,lol |

Since the early 70's there has been a boom in car owners/sales and even though most new domestic properties are built with a garage, as many residents have more than one car they are left parked anywhere and every where (how many car owners actualy use their garage for storing their cars/ they tend to store houshold items there before eventualy taking them to the recycling centre. When i was younger (lol) the police would 'book' you for parking on the pavement (even driving across it) or causing an obstruction. Its now left to the local council so nobody bothers, unless your friendly (lol) traffic warden is on the prowl. My sympathy is with wheel chair users, the very young, the blind and the old. Having been rammed a few times with young parents pushing children in pushchairs etc (some as wide as a small car) on the street and in shopping malls I dont have too much sympathy there.( the grumpy old man in me coming out lol) |

You're right Paul I did, so lets put that right now, although I think Michael pretty well covers it above. So should cars be parked on pavements if it interferes with any user, able bodied or otherwise? |

This to allow the plow trucks to keep the roads clean. But they have to have them off the walk way within a certain period of time after the storm is over. Of course by the time the storm is over and the plow trucks have heaped even more snow off to the side of the road you have quite a job shoveling yourself out! lol. But in general, no, I don't think parking on a walkway is a good idea. People have to have a designated path to walk that is safe and relatively free of traffic. |
