The british tax payer is being asked to pay more

Hunt for Madeleine McCann costs British police £745k

I am openminded about this case, you may remember that this child went 'missing' under suspicious circumstances a couple of years ago whilst her 'medical doctor' parents were out dining with friends, having left her and her brother on their own in their holiday apartment.

Wellwishers and charity events raised millions for a charity set-up in her name. This money was used to fund parent defence claims and costs etc by her parents and legal teams. They also won considerable damages from newspapers etc.

Sadley, the little girl was never found or traced.

However I feel its wronge that the British taxpayer should have to foot the bill to the tune of almost a million £'s for a case that happened beyond our shores and due to the possible 'neglectful' behavour of a now seemingly wealthy couple. see below-

British police have spent nearly three-quarters of a million pounds searching for Madeleine McCann during the past 28 months.

The Leicestershire force got involved in the Port-ugal-based inquiry as the tot’s parents Kate and Gerry live in the county.

And last year they spent £197,000 on the hunt for Madeleine – three when she vanished from a Praia da Luz holiday flat – on top of £548,000 in 2007.

The force has recouped £525,000 from the Home Office and has filed a claim for the remaining £220,000.

A spokesman stressed: “Every cost can be backed by invoices and receipts.”

Clarence Mitchell, spokesman for Kate and Gerry, of Rothley, said: “We are grateful to them.”

It is a controversial one Michael!!! I am torn - I would have never left my children like they did. I also feel that if they had been from a council estate they would have been prosecuted but because they were doctors people assumed that what they did was acceptable - which I think is wrong. However a child's life is priceless so the cost to the taxpayer in my opinion is not an issue. As a taxpayer and also a mother I am happy to pay for the police to look into cases of missing children whatever the cost.

Michael, I reckon we should spend every penny on trying to locate these children and the scumbags who take them. I would gladly contribute every week to a fund, but would I support war in Iraq and Afghanistan.....NO! Would I send £millions to others who feather their own nest.....NO! Find the scumbags who take our kids and deliver them to Ron. Oh, I promise of course that I would treat them right.......yeah, as if. B......s! Also stop trying to support the third world (so-called) because before long they will turn and bite our a..e!
