I feel it's easier to show compassion, when you are not directly affected...hence letting him go. Say, your daughter, son, sister or brother were on that flight. Then I can see the dificulty in letting him go, to spend his last days in the comfort of his loved ones, thinking of how my loved one felt in their last moments.

I'm sure every decent being is apalled by the acts of bombers and my sympathy goes out to all victims and their families. Lets not forget that the Scots lost people in that incident. lets not forget also that the semtex used in many bombings in northern Ireland and mainland Britain, ie Warrington, Manchester, Birmingham and London was allegedly bought from libya with monies raised in America. I think we all have to examine our concience before we can judge others. As for the 'judge' that granted this terrorists release, I'm sure he (like any good judge) must have realy wieghed the 'pros and cons' on this case and made a very brave decision. As reported in some American newspapers, some called him soft and weak, I think he (the judge) was very brave indeed

As always it's come down to "point of view" and I respect yours.

Why should this man be granted any comfort? He showed no compassion for his victims.

my respects also Bob, I  only wish everyone would respect each other, its the only way forward.

krissy, compassion is one of the better human triaits, if we showed no compassion we'll be just as bad as those that cause and carry out those evil crimes. His God is now his judge , I believe he has walked his last walk, punished not by the hand of man but by the hand of God.

Totally agree with you Michael but...then should we show compassion for all criminals who are suffering? And do you think that these people are in a place (heart and mind) to appriciate what is being given to them? Can evil be reversed?
