 I have photoshop elemnts 2 ,bit old but works.

If its really dark like you get in a church interior make a duplicate layer.

go to image/adjustments/ equalise.it might be in filters in later versions.

Now you can see the thing

go to layers tab on right and set opacity around 50%,

Flatten the image so theres no layers.

Thats it!

Thanks Mark!! What a huge change:) Peter and Paul and others have given me great help with pictures because i can sure use it and have not had the time to fix a lot of my pixs but i plan on trying to do so soon so thanks for your help also!!:))))
