I have lived in Burton-on-Trent all my life and have always assumed from most people I know and from my family that the town is in the east midlands NOT west midlands, I have searched online and I am finding it extremely difficult to find the answer. I advertise on a web site for business from people within my area, which beleive will search within the east midlands area option on their web site to finds us, unfortunetely though the company insist that we are in the west midlands unless we can provide supporting evidence to the contrary, perhaps I am wrong, could someone please advise?

I would have thought Burton is East Mids, Its in Staffordshire, i'll be surprised if it comes under West midlands as its clearly East!

East Midlands for me too John. Welcome to POE from Anna and Ron by the way, but why not introduce yourself in 'User Introductions' where you will get the usual warm member POE welcome.

According to POE it is in the West Midlands! Look at England Maps on the left of this screen. Must say I thought Burton on Trent was East Midlands but thinking about it Staffordshire is in the West Midlands.

Definitely West Midlands region, though it's about as far east in Staffordshire as you can possibly go!

It does indeed feel like its in the East Midlands as I have been a few times and its not far out of Derbyshire. However Staffordshire is part of the West midlands and its just over the county boundary. It may be slightly changeable but the East Midlands as far as I know is Notts, Leics,Derbyshire,Rutland,Northants and south Lincolnshire.

I can see your advertising problem though John - being right on the border you really need to advertise in both West and East Midlands which will obvoiusly cost more. That is a nuisance.

Thank you for all your replies, it is strange that I and all my family and most people I know have always refered to Burton-on-Trent being in the East Midland didnt think we were near the black country.
