I just had to have my cat put to sleep...literally...I am so sad

It wasn't the greatest of days today.  I'm home sick from work with a bad case of bronchitis.  But the worst news is that I will be leaving the house in an hour to have my beautiful cat Bunny put to sleep.  I've had her since '95, and she was probably 2 or 3 years old then.  She's like Merlin, Diana, very sweet, very loving and my heart's just broken.  And everytime I put a pet to sleep, I ask why we put ourselves thru this trauma.  It's almost like you just have to mentally prepare yourself for it as soon as you get them.  But they're worth every minute.

She hasn't eaten in a week, but was still gettng up to drink water and use the box.  But I've had to wash her face for her the last 2 days and when she staggered this morning, I knew that hospice was over and today's the day to let go.

I am sorry to hear this Ruth. We all know that life comes to an end for everything, but that doesn't help the pain when it happens to those we love, both human and animal.

Take care of yourself and let yourself gireve. I'll be with you in spirit.

That's why I posted here.  Because you guys all have a great way of kissing something and making it better.

oh, thats real bad news Ruth, I feel sad for you. I have an old dog, and I know i'm going to be ripped to pieces when the time comes.
