Most snakes in Aus. are pretty deadly Cathy. We have some of the most

venomous snakes in the world. .

Okay then, I guess I wouldn't mess with them! Surprised I'd probably try to bait them somewhere else. You know, throw some meat or something outside of my yard hoping they would follow it! Laughing

I'd make sure I have a big trap for those spiders!  Maybe a baited trap outside my yard so they don't come in my house! Surprised

Wolf, the spiders in your country scare me more than the ones here! Do you know what kind of spider got you? Clearly it wasn't the red back or you'd be taking a dirt nap.

I was bitten by a redback when I first arrived in Australia ( painting gutters on a house ) they are really not that bad, though they make you feel sick and feverish.

Not good if one has a week heart.

The knee one did not make me sick but itched like hell, and still does at times. I think that was a White tailed Spider.

The most deadly is the Sydney Funnel Web Spider.

If you worried about it too much , you would never enjoy the outdoors.

I agree Wolf.  We have some creatures here too you wouldn't want to share a sleeping bag with.  Rattlesnakes, scorpions, ticks, etc.  You learn to take precautions.  When we go camping now, we sleep in cots to get us up off the ground.  Not to mention that the old bones just can't seem to take sleeping on the ground anymore.  lol

The biggest problem we had here in the last couple of years is West Nile virus, transmitted by mosquitoes.  And of course, we usually have a few people a year who get bitten by a rabid fox or bat.
