I think I've worked out how I feel, after giving it much thought.

My gut instinct says "kill them, put them to death" but my heart tells me this should not be done.

So for me, the sentence should be life in prison, until their last breath is taken.

These days, a prisoner is not a PRISONER. There was an item on tv yesterday, where an inmate complained about the food. The person serving him said something not very nice and was promptly told, that he was a customer. "Doh". It must cost a fortune keeping them in TV's, computers and electronic games, film shows and good food that our pesioners cant afford to buy for themselves. They are looked after better than our poor mentally ill and pensioners.

There is a mayor, I think it was in Texas. Banned TV, except for religious programs. Makes them sleep in tents and work in the chain gangs for the public benefit. When prisoners compain, he says that the US soldiers sleep in tents in Afganistan in higher temperatures, carry loads of equipment all day long while under fire and they have commited no crimes. So the prisoners can do the same and if they dont like it, dont commit any crimes. If we dont use the death penalty, can we give our murderers  to him. He seems to have the right idea.

I agree too, Peter. The whole justice/penal system is a joke in Britain, except that it's no laughing matter. Can we do a swop with Texas...we will have their mayor and they can have Boris Johnson.

 Thought provoking ?

Mowing  the Grass

I  hope the picture will go through for you - of  this Army Grunt in Iraq with his tiny 'plot' of  grass in front of his tent. It's  heartwarming!  Here  is an Australian soldier stationed in Iraq ,  stationed in a big sand box. He asked his wife  to send him dirt (aussie soil), fertilizer, and  some grass seed so that he can have the sweet  aroma, and feel the grass grow beneath his feet.  When the men of the squadron have a mission that  they are going on, they take turns walking  through the grass and the Aussie soil -- to  bring them good luck.

If  you notice, he is even cutting the grass with a  pair of a scissors. Sometimes we are in such a  hurry that we don't stop and think about the  little things that we take for granted.

Upon receiving this, say a little prayer  for all soldiers that give and give (and give  up) so unselfishly for us.

I am not sure if it's just my computer but I can't see your picture Wolf.

The thought of the soldiers doing this makes me feel weepy.  Indeed I shall say a prayer for them all.

After reading your post Wolf I went up to a young man in my office who served during the gulf war and thanked him. He actually got tears in his eyes. It really is important for our soldiers to know how much we appreciate them.  I wonder if there is any such thing as "adopt a soldier" so that we civilians can correspond with them and send them little care packages?

Wolf, I can't see it either. Try sending it again....if it comes through all well and good, if not I will copy and paste the text so as to tidy up the post, but delete what was supposed to be the pic!

Hi Peter:  The person you're referring to in your post is Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio, right here in good ol' Phoenix, Arizona.  The wild, wild west! LOL.  Why do you think I'm so well behaved?  Innocent
