I'm really homesick today. It must be the cooler weather (See weather thread) . Usually in the Autumn and the Spring I get very homesick. It's not as bad as when I first left England, then I was so homesick it was a real physical ache inside. I can't describe it, but I'm sure you must have felt that kind of ache yourselves for something or someone.

Anyway, I've been looking at the pictures I took last year in October when I was over, and it's made me really homesick. It's been 16 year since I left, and I fear I am never going to get over it. I did have one English woman living in Utah tell me that my problem was that I went home too often, and if I didn't go every year then I'd get over it. She hadn't been home in eight years. EIGHT YEARS! I can't even make eight months without thinking about the next trip.

OK, I've unloaded. Back to the house work.

I sort of feel the same way, Sue.  We were over there such a short time, I cried when we left.  Glad to have POE though.  I'm taking a serious look at the finances so we can go again next year.  So much for all the other places in the world (and the US) that I've wanted to visit.

And I wouldn't listen to the woman's advice if I were you.  Go as often as you can.

It is a beautiful time of year Sue and Ruth, we've just had our best weather for ages in Yorkshire...August was terrible here what with constant cloudy days and rain.

There's something about the start of Autumn that I love, always have done in fact. One thing I hate about it though is saying goodbye to the swallows, I know it won't be long before they're back again, but I really miss seeing them.

I wish I was a kid again. I'd be looking forward to the horse chestnuts maturing now, all ready to throw a stick up into the tree to dislodge a decent conker....it won't be very long before they're ripe.

So I understand how much and why you miss Blighty, but I envy the fact that it's all so special when you come, sometimes it's all too easy to take your country for granted and forget just how wonderful it is.

Anyway, come back soon, both of you, I'll take you out for a tour in my van lol!!

You want to hear something wild?

I save one dollar bills.  I put them aside and count them right before I go to England. I've gotten up to $600.00 doing that and it really helps pay some toward the trip.

You should try it, because it's easy to put aside dollars that way.

Of course I don't pay for accommodation for the most part, so that really helps too.

I've never spent any time in your neck of the woods, Andy. It sure would be fun to see another part of the country.

We have two huge, old Horse Chestnut trees up the top of the road where I grew up (I have a picture, but it has rubbish bins in it) I spent many an hour getting a crick in my neck tossing branches up to know down the Conkers.  Oh, and not nice when one landed on your head.

We were there in November, Andy, and the weather was surprisingly good.  I think we only got rained on about 3 times during the whole trip, in both England and Ireland.  But it was just showers, not that all day rainy downpour stuff.  I was thinking, listening to all the talk about rain there this summer that maybe the fall season might be a little drier?  I know it's a lot cheaper for us tourists.  The only drawback was the <8 hours of daylight.  And you know I love Yorkshire, so I'll probably be looking you up.

And Lyn, I'd love to pick you up and drive you up to Yorkshire with us.

Silly me, when I said we've just had our best weather for ages, I didn't explain that I meant today, 1st of September. I hope it continues to be sunny for the rest of the month!
