Contrary to what you may have heard or read, the best way to choose a deck is to go to a shop where they have sample decks available for you to look at and then choose the deck that "feels" right to you. There is an online store called Aeclectic Tarot that has a list of hundreds of decks and they even have rather nice sample cards from each deck for you to view.
