"Kay" of course besides being the Scottish McKay family is also an very old name,King Aurthur's friend, was said to been "Sir Kay"...it is an very old Hebrew name also, as "KA" ..the "A" pronoucnced "short"....meaning "thee" as in Kallaba..."the word"or divine thought. It derived from "light Language" of the earliest period.Shirley is of course English...meaning an "villager" taken from the word "Shire"...it was changed to "from an white meadow" when I was little. I was named after my dad's boss, whom was an road supervisor when dad was in Enginering college after WWII...and worked for him,..for the Nebraska State Highway divsion.. Ray and his wife Shirley never had any kids, and I heard wanted to adopt me,but my parents wouldn't give me up. My parents came to Oregon from this freindship..as did these people, they all at one time lived down near Brookings Oregon on the coast. My Great Aunty I mentioned before, the one knew the US President, her name was Katherine. we use to talk all the time. I didn't know her as well when I was an little kid, as she was an world traveler back then. Her husband "Peter" left her an widow. she never had any kids either. She never remarried. She ended up raising her sister's daughter along with her brother and his wife...he was an "shriiner" Mason. They lived in California and buitlHollywood Movie Stars houses in the early 40's and 50's. The Shirley Plantation of course is in Williamsburg, Va....one of the earliest and now renovated plantations with tours of it, both hubby and I have the "Hill" family that owed it in our genealogy. As for them being cousins, Larkins/Lawson/Martin were constatnly marrying into their own lines through the ages. My great Aunt's professional "Logo" she signed by was "Kay-O"..her married name was O'Cana. She always thought she was Irish because of the "O'Cana"..but I so far have not found that....true, we have Riley's as an marriage into the family at one time also. Are we going to do numerology next? I'm an number 5...I stand for humanity..in all it's phases..back to the creator when I obtain perfection soulwise. I am the four corners of the earth and the creation of the divine in #5....this of course being my birthdate. |

My Mom though my maiden name Stephanie Beddows was long enough but I was always sad I didn't have a second name until senior school when everyone was embarrassed about theirs! All my sons have middle names, Joseph Edward - after Terry's deceased father, Aaron Howard after my deceased father and Solomon Adam after their uncle. |

Proud to have it and did not want to lose it so took it on as a middle name. Catherine Anne after two Saints. My mother is Catholic. When I get divorced I am back to England!!! When I was picking out a name for Elsie I wanted her to have a feminine name and a strong name. I wanted the best of both worlds for her. My grandmother was Elsie Reeves. Very pretty I thought. Elsie seems so feminine and musical, ladylike. And I chose Alexandra as a middle name. It is strong, powerful and confident. She has turned out to have a heart of gold, to be warm and caring but also headstrong and stubborn. A very determined young lady who knows what she wants. I also gave her England as a second middle name because I wanted her to have her heritage. Interesting enough if you look at her full name three of the names all start and end in the same letter! Elsie Alexandra England Schleunes. Also our three last initials are the same. |
