If you guys think Gordon Brown's bad, how'd you like to have GWB? He will go down in history as the worst US president ever, hands down. McCain is the senator from Arizona, and 8 years ago when he still had a little sense, I'd hoped the Republicans would have put him in instead of Bush. I think Al Gore could have gotten in on Clinton's coattails in 2000 if only Clinton had been wearing pants under his coat. LOL. But McCain's lost his brain - when he selected Palin as his running mate, it told me exactly what he thinks - he's more concerned about getting elected than he is about the country (and the world). And he thinks the American people are stupid. I was for Hilary in the primaries, but I don't have a problem with Obama. Things are so rock bottom now that a lot of his ideas may be the fresh start we need to break out of the old ways of thinking. I disagree with you, Ron, that America's not ready for a black president. I think Obama will be much more of a bridge builder with the world community than McCain and God forbid, Palin, could ever be. And heaven knows there's a lot of burnt bridges that now need to be replaced thanks to Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld. Their administration can be summed up in one word - Arrogance. OK, now I think I've got to stick up for my country. As much as I go on about how much I love England and I'd move there in a heartbeat, it's not because I don't like the government here. And I'm very PROUD to be an American and believe that the force for good that America has been to the world far outweighs the bad. It's far from perfect because like every other nation, it's made up of human beings and that means it can go either way. Hopefully whoever gets in (my money's on Obama) will be able to right the ship because she's listing badly. If I'm not mistaken, I heard that the world community is hoping for Obama. Is that right? |

I had also hoped for Hilary Clinton to do well, and the only trhing that worries me about the probable electionof Obama, is whether or not a coloured President can live through a term in office, especially considering that taking pot-shots at the President seems to be practically a natioanl sport in the USA. Like you, I was surprised that a total dummy like GWB was e;ected for one term let alone two, but I was equally surprised that a 'grateful nation' didn't see Blair for the ego-driven moron he was, so we have no bragging rights over here, believe me! |

I worry a bit about his connections to the middle-east though. I do think he has more respect then many politicans over here these days. It would of been nice if Hillary would of been his running mate, but I'm not sure she wanted to take an lesser seat and not sure if he could of handled her expereince as an senior politican either. I think Sarah Palin is a lot smarter then what we give her credit for, but I agree in most of your assestments of her in ways...she doesn't appear to be in the catagory we find her in right now amid "world leaders". It's another year of so many here lately...where there really isn't the leadership we need in the polls to be voted for to tell the truth, in all honesty I think that we could use an good Irishman..laugh as you may, there have been more US President's with Irish past `roots" then any other nationality. It's been interesting in my history work you know, the Germans came over to help with settling the frontiers with weapons, the Englishmen were busy with immigrating others and business interest, they really didn't care about the "frontiers", but the Scot-Irish came over here for one thing, to "tame" the savages in so many words...and in short,to win the western movement, and they played a large part in it. the French and the Canadians for the most part married within the native americans, but not so much so for the Scot-Irish...they stayed amoung themselves. I have one account that says they were so ruthless that the Native americans acutally "respected" them because they knew they couldn' t pull anything off on them without paying the price for having done so. I guess I can say this now, but I never voted for "Bush" either time..I guess you know when this all started out, I have been called "un-American"more times then Bush ever thought of being called an rotten name..I felt he was to arrogant also, but I think he was to assured of himself on changes that no one had tried on the public level. For instance, our Social Security..only the senior Senators were able to halt him on using it to "invest" in the stock market back then, can you imagine where we'd be today if he had, a good share of people that had little sums of money in investments have already lost a good deal of it. All they have now IS Social Security...and people talk of it "tanking" and what happens to millions of seniors then? Not all of us were born with an silver spoon in the mouth like Mr. Bush was apparently, or he'd know better. I just got done reading some webbot stuff for next year, it basically says we are going to lose the power of the dollar globbally, they are calling 2009, the summer of hell...if that does happen, it's then people are going to wish they had things back like they were on frontier areas yet to be settled, where the animals were teeming and there for warmth and food, where the trees were plenty and again, people could build with them and use them for warmth and barter. We have let our natural resources go down the tube, and it's going to hurt worse then losing the dollar is someday. We should of been planting "fruit trees"instead of easy care generic bushes all over for fancy landscaping. But more then anything, I don't know about you people, but many of us here are struggling day to day to make ends meet..and there seems to be this "cry" by those more wealthier to bail them out..and I wonder with "what"..if we just simply don't have it ourselves. Our Government is much like France was in the Revolutionay war right now, they can't seem to "understand" how the middle income group is paying for all three, the wealthier, the low income and then expected to support the Government. We simply can't do it to much longer. Our only hope is "God" and his deliverence in ways. But enough about this, time will tell I guess as to what happens. I love my country also, but its getting to be more of an stranger to me all the time any more. We have lost many of our freedoms, as they changed the constituion here in Bush's reign ..all it will take will be one "baddie" to do us in perhaps...and use them for personal gain rather then for "true" justice. We need some of themorals and values our grandparents had in ways, if not better ones. |

But doesn't it highlight exactly what we know is, or has been going on and doesn't it show how we the 'mere public' have an opinion that really should count, but rarely does? Instead, we are treated like children 'who know nothing and who will fall into line when we tell them to' and then they rob us blind of our hard earned cash soon after promising us the earth!! This of course happens the world over and is primed by those who seek most, those with the biggest mouth! Liars, cheats, conmen/women, weirdo's, call them what you will but this type seems to be a candidate to fill the post most times! MEP's can apparently pick up something close to £250k per annum by the time you add in their 'perks of the job' whilst we have to get by on a pittance, and for what do they get this obscene amount of money? Ah, yes I know, to get a job alongside Gordon Brown and his rotten Government. Still, not too much longer to wait to be rid of them all, and if David Cameron can't make it, I hope the BNP does! The truth is that most of us, even those who run their own company's probably never see £250k in their Annual Turnover let alone pocket that amount, and they are the one's keeping the country running! No wonder we all despair!! Anyway some really interesting comments from sensible POE members. Perhaps we should consider setting up the POE Party? Careful with your resonse now.... |
