I was thinking Neil Sedaka as well but I think the Carpenters might have done a cover of it too.------which they did in 1975.

Sorry Shaun;  '57--'62 The Beatles were still gigging around England with an excursion to Germany. This one is American and generally would be considered a solo performer though other musicians backing him. I think this song was a hit for him about 1973, or thereabouts.
