Denzil,

My old beauty, long time no see! you do not have to apologise to the people of bodmin, very few of them can read so they won't be offended by anything you may have written about them anyway!

How are you and Andy? Well I hope. I have to go out for a while now, but I will be back in an hour.

Just an observation here Ray, but isn't that an insult to anyone from Bodmin who looks at these threads?? Undecided I wasn't going to add to this thread but I just had to point that out.

Hi Lyn,

I take your point regarding your post, although the suggestion that 'Few of the people can read' is, to me, such an absurd suggestion, that it is obviously light hearted banter, and was my attempt to reply humorously to an old friend.

I think we have to differentiate here between making a serious statement likely to wound; and with an obviously ridiculous statement which could not possibly be true.

However, I have removed the post, in case it does inadvertently offend.

Thankyou everyone. I wonder how many others would be game enough to ask the same question as I did. ?

A small observation on your last post Wolfie. You would not need to ask that question if you knew that posts could offend someone, however inadvertently, and that a little bit of care exercised before hitting the 'send' button, could avoid any misundertanding.

Everyone admires straight talking and honesty; but at the same time, I think we have to be aware that individuals have different 'sensitivity' thresholds. Some people have a skin like a  rhinosaurus; others, who because of their personality make up; life events; or illness, may feel vulnerable or 'down'

This may be a permanent or temporary situation, but that person may agonise over something said or written, which would horrify the author if they knew the effect his/her words had on the former.

The rhinosaurus should be proud of it's courage and toughness, but remember, the gazelle also needs to drink at the watering-hole!

I think you hit the nail on the head Ray, thanks for your input. Isn't it great when we can have a discussion like this without actually falling out over it, I think so!

I also take your point Lyn G, so whether or not you now delete your post to coincide with Ray's action is for you to decide. I think most would agree that Ray is a bit of a joker anyway (topical for this time of year eh?) Wonder if he wears a purple shirt and green trousers, and so would not be taken too seriously regarding his comment!

ron

I do not possess a purple shirt, or green trousers. I might have a look around Oxfam to see what I can find!

I hope I have not inadvertently offended patrons of Oxfam!

Ray.

I really don't worry too much of what people think of me. I do not try to offend, or annoy, but if I do, well I will always apologise to them and learn from that. Can'ty speak for Ron though! lol
